Why I Chose to Keep Going: A January Reflection

January is a quiet month.

After the rush of the holidays, the noise fades. Sales slow down. Social feeds feel emptier. And for many small businesses, this is the moment where reality settles in.

This January, I want to be honest with you.

There was a moment not long ago when we truly considered closing Cashmere Moon.

Things had slowed down drastically. The momentum we worked so hard to build felt like it disappeared overnight. To make ends meet, I took on a part-time job. And in the middle of it all, I questioned whether continuing was worth it.

But here’s the truth: Cashmere Moon was never just about products.

It’s about softness in a world that asks us to be hard.

When Growth Slows, Doubt Gets Loud

We don’t talk enough about this side of small business.

The side where orders slow.
The side where algorithms change.
The side where passion alone doesn’t pay bills.

January has a way of magnifying doubt. When things are quiet, your thoughts get louder. And it’s easy to convince yourself that slowing down means failing.

But slowing down isn’t the same as being done.

Sometimes, it’s an invitation to pause, reassess, and reconnect with why you started in the first place.

Why I Didn’t Quit

After a lot of reflection, prayer, and honest conversations, I realized something important:

Cashmere Moon still has purpose.

This brand was built on care — care for skin, care for rest, care for the small rituals that make everyday life feel a little gentler. And that mission doesn’t disappear just because business ebbs and flows.

So instead of walking away, I chose to keep going.

Not perfectly.
Not loudly.
But intentionally.

January Is Still Self-Care Season

The new year doesn’t have to mean pressure, productivity, or becoming someone new overnight.

At Cashmere Moon, I believe January is about:

  • Restoring dry, winter-worn skin

  • Creating simple routines you can actually stick to

  • Choosing softness when the world feels heavy

  • Allowing yourself to move slowly

Self-care doesn’t need to be extravagant. Sometimes it’s as simple as moisturizing your skin before bed. Sometimes it’s lighting a candle and putting your phone down. Sometimes it’s giving yourself permission to keep going — even when the path isn’t clear.

Thank You for Supporting Small

If you’re reading this, thank you.

Every order, share, message, and kind word matters more than you know. Supporting a small business isn’t just a transaction — it’s belief. And we don’t take that lightly.

This January, we’re moving forward with gratitude, intention, and a renewed sense of purpose.

Cashmere Moon is still here.
Still creating.
Still believing in softness.

And I'm so glad you’re here with us.

Here’s to gentle beginnings, hydrated skin, and choosing not to give up — even when things get quiet.

🤍
